MSzMP
MSzMP, or the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, is a political party in Hungary. Founded in 1989, it is the successor to the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (MSZMP), which was the ruling party of Hungary from 1945 to 1989. MSzMP is a member of the Party of the European Left and the Socialist International. The party's ideology is socialist and democratic, and it advocates for a mixed economy, social justice, and environmental protection. MSzMP has been a member of the Hungarian Parliament since 1990, and it has been a significant force in Hungarian politics, often serving as the main opposition to the governing Fidesz party. The party's leader is László Botka, who has been in the position since 2018. MSzMP's youth wing is the Hungarian Socialist Youth (MSZMP Ifjúsági Szervezete). The party's official newspaper is the Népszabadság.
