The name "Mara Salvatrucha" is derived from the Spanish phrase "Mara Salvatrucha," which translates to "Devil's Daughter." The organization is primarily composed of young people from working-class backgrounds and is known for its involvement in various criminal activities, including drug trafficking, robbery, and violence.

MS13s is one of the largest and most violent street gangs in the United States, with a significant presence in the United States, Mexico, and Central America. The gang is structured hierarchically, with leaders known as "capos" and "sub-capos," who oversee smaller groups of members. The organization's strict code of conduct, known as the "13 Principles," dictates its members' behavior and expectations.
