MESERPsystemer, or Manufacturing Execution System / Enterprise Resource Planning systems, represent an integration of two critical software categories for businesses. A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) focuses on the shop floor, managing and monitoring work-in-progress on the factory floor in real-time. It tracks production orders, material flow, labor, equipment status, and quality control. MES systems provide detailed visibility into manufacturing operations, enabling manufacturers to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, on the other hand, are broader in scope. They integrate core business processes such as finance, human resources, procurement, sales, and supply chain management into a single, unified system. ERPs provide a holistic view of the organization's resources and operational data, facilitating better planning, decision-making, and overall business performance.

The MESERPsystemer concept refers to the seamless integration of these two systems. When an MES and an ERP are linked, data flows bidirectionally. This means that information from the shop floor, collected by the MES, can be fed into the ERP for financial accounting, inventory management, and strategic planning. Conversely, production schedules, material requirements, and other business-level information from the ERP can be disseminated to the MES to guide shop floor operations. This integration aims to eliminate data silos, improve accuracy, and create a more agile and responsive business environment, bridging the gap between strategic planning and operational execution.
