MDCKsolut is a specific cell line derived from Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells. MDCK cells are a highly characterized and widely used epithelial cell line originating from the kidney of an adult female cocker spaniel. The "solut" designation typically refers to a particular clone or subline of MDCK cells that has been selected for specific properties, often related to its ability to form tight monolayers or its response to certain experimental conditions.

MDCK cells, and by extension MDCKsolut, are known for their ability to form polarized epithelial monolayers when cultured on permeable supports.
