Légszennyezettség

Légszennyezettség refers to the contamination of the Earth's atmosphere by harmful substances. These pollutants can be in the form of gases, solid particles, or liquid droplets. They can originate from both natural sources, such as volcanic eruptions and forest fires, and anthropogenic sources, which are primarily human activities. Major human-caused sources include the burning of fossil fuels in vehicles, power plants, and industrial processes, as well as agricultural activities and waste incineration.

The primary air pollutants include particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and ground-level ozone (O3). Particulate matter, consisting of tiny solid or liquid particles suspended in the air, can penetrate deep into the lungs and cause respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood. Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are major contributors to acid rain and can irritate the respiratory system. Ground-level ozone, while beneficial in the upper atmosphere, is a harmful pollutant at ground level that can damage lung tissue.
