Lääninherroistaan refers to the lords or rulers of a lään, which is a historical administrative division in some European countries, particularly in Estonia and Latvia during certain periods. These lään were essentially provinces or counties. The lääninherra, therefore, was the individual entrusted with the governance and administration of such a territory.
