Lämpötilareleillä

Lämpötilareleillä, often translated as temperature relays or thermal relays, are control devices that react to changes in temperature. They are typically used in electrical systems to protect equipment from overheating or to control processes based on specific temperature thresholds. A common type of lämpötilärele is a bimetallic relay. This type utilizes two different metals with distinct thermal expansion coefficients bonded together. When the temperature rises, one metal expands more than the other, causing the bimetallic strip to bend. This bending action can be used to open or close an electrical contact.

These devices are crucial for preventing damage to motors, transformers, and other electrical components that can be harmed by excessive heat. For instance, if a motor's windings get too hot, the lämpötilärele can interrupt the power supply, preventing burnout. In some applications, lämpötiläreleillä are also used for positive temperature control, such as activating a cooling fan when a certain temperature is reached or switching off a heating element when a desired temperature is maintained. The set point, or the temperature at which the relay operates, is usually adjustable, allowing for customization to specific needs. They are found in a wide range of industrial machinery, household appliances, and automotive systems.
