Lämpötilamaastamuoto, also known as thermal landscape or temperature relief, refers to the spatial variations in temperature across a landscape. These variations are not uniform and are influenced by a complex interplay of geographical, meteorological, and anthropogenic factors. Understanding these temperature patterns is crucial in fields like ecology, agriculture, urban planning, and climate science.

Several elements contribute to the formation of a lämpötilamaastamuoto. Elevation is a primary factor, with higher altitudes generally exhibiting lower temperatures due to decreased atmospheric pressure and density. Aspect, the direction a slope faces, significantly impacts solar radiation absorption. "Urban heat islands" are a well-documented phenomenon where cities experience significantly higher temperatures than surrounding rural areas, attributed to materials like concrete and asphalt absorbing and re-emitting heat, and reduced vegetation cover. These temperature gradients within a landscape have direct implications for biodiversity, water availability, and energy consumption.
