Lythar

Lythar is a fictional region in the fantasy world of Eldoria. The area features rugged highlands, fertile valleys, and a network of rivers, and is commonly depicted as a crossroads of commerce and culture. The name Lythar derives from the ancient Lythari language, where it is associated with light and elevation.

Lythar lies in the north of Eldoria, bordered by the Sea of Nareth to the west and the Skyreach Highlands to the east. It includes the Lythar Highlands, the Silver River, and the Great Basin. The climate is temperate with cold winters and wet springs, supporting alpine meadows and mixed forests.

Settlement in Lythar predates coordinated statehood. It developed through alliances among city-states and clans, later uniting briefly under the Council of Twelve. The area has experienced periods of conflict and trade-driven growth, and has long served as a corridor for regional commerce.

Lythar operates as a loose confederation in which city-states retain autonomy under a Grand Council. The council elects a rotating chieftain for ceremonial duties, while law and administration remain locally administered within customary frameworks.

The Lythari people speak Lythari and Eldorian; they are known for metalwork, textiles, and scholarship. Religious life is diverse, with temples scattered across towns. Festivals celebrate harvests, rivers, and seasonal transitions.

The economy centers on metallurgy, timber, grain, and wool. River trade along the Silver River connects inland markets with port towns. Caravans, bridges, and granaries support commerce and storage.

The Silver Spire, the Library of Oryn, and the Gate of Winds recur in lore. Celun serves as the capital and meeting place of the Grand Council.
