Luottamusväleissä, or confidence intervals in English, are a fundamental concept in statistics used to estimate an unknown population parameter. A confidence interval provides a range of values that is likely to contain the true value of the parameter with a certain level of confidence. For instance, a 95% confidence interval means that if we were to repeat the sampling process many times, approximately 95% of the calculated intervals would contain the true population parameter.
