Luotoissa

Luotoissa is a Finnish geographic and linguistic term meaning “in the islets” or “among the islets.” It is used to indicate location within archipelago landscapes composed of many small islands and rocky outcrops. The word comes from luoto, meaning islet, and is used in a locative sense to describe where something is in relation to islets.

Geographically, luotoissa commonly appears when describing places in Finland’s archipelago regions, such as areas around the Archipelago Sea near Turku and the Åland Islands. It can appear in maps, travel guides, nautical descriptions, and descriptive writing as a way to convey a landscape made up of interlinked islets rather than a single continuous landmass.
