Luftfjæring

Luftfjæring, translated as air suspension, is a type of vehicle suspension system that uses a pump or compressor to supply compressed air to a flexible air bag or bellows. This system replaces conventional coil springs or leaf springs, offering a more adaptable and comfortable ride.

The core components of an air suspension system include an air compressor, air reservoirs, height sensors, and air springs. The compressor generates compressed air, which is stored in reservoirs. Height sensors monitor the vehicle's ride height, and when a change is detected or a driver adjustment is made, the system directs air into or releases air from the air springs. This allows the vehicle's ride height to be adjusted, either manually by the driver or automatically based on load or driving conditions.

The primary advantages of air suspension are improved ride comfort and adjustable ride height. By controlling the amount of air in the springs, the stiffness can be varied, allowing for a softer ride on rough surfaces and a firmer, more stable ride at higher speeds. The ability to adjust ride height can be beneficial for off-roading, loading and unloading, or improving aerodynamics. Some advanced systems also offer load-leveling capabilities, ensuring a consistent ride height regardless of passenger or cargo weight. However, air suspension systems can be more complex and expensive to maintain than traditional suspension systems.
