Lowband

Lowband refers to the lowest portion of the radio frequency spectrum, typically considered to be from 30 MHz to 300 MHz. This frequency range is characterized by its ability to travel long distances and penetrate obstacles like buildings and foliage relatively well. This makes lowband frequencies valuable for various applications, including land mobile radio systems used by public safety and commercial organizations. These systems often utilize lowband because of its reliable coverage over wide areas.

The propagation characteristics of lowband are influenced by factors such as the Earth's curvature and atmospheric conditions. While excellent for ground wave propagation, it is less susceptible to ionospheric reflection compared to higher frequencies.
