Lontarans

Lontarans are a unique script originating from the island of Bali, Indonesia. This ancient writing system is primarily used to transcribe the Balinese language and various religious texts. The script's name itself, "lontar," derives from the dried and treated leaves of the lontar palm tree, which historically served as the primary writing material.

The appearance of lontaran characters is characterized by its flowing, curvilinear forms. This style is well-suited for inscribing on the flexible palm leaves, allowing for a smooth and continuous writing process. The script is written from left to right.
