Logischepistemische, often referred to as logical epistemology in English, is a field that analyzes the logical structure of knowledge, belief, justification, and related epistemic states using formal methods. It sits at the intersection of philosophy and logic and seeks to understand how agents reason about information, how knowledge and belief are represented, and how these states change in light of new data.

The core toolkit of logischepistemische is epistemic logic, a branch of modal logic that uses operators such as K_i to denote “agent i knows” and B_i for “agent i believes.” Semantics are typically given by possible-world models with an accessibility relation that captures what each agent considers possible. This framework allows precise formulations of principles about knowledge and belief, such as truth conditions for knowledge and introspective laws (positive and negative introspection) often captured in systems like S5.
