Lisänäytönohjain

Lisänäytönohjain refers to an auxiliary graphics processing unit, often a discrete or dedicated graphics card, installed in a computer system in addition to the primary or integrated graphics solution. This secondary graphics card is typically added to enhance the system's visual processing capabilities. Common reasons for installing a lisänäytönohjain include improving performance in demanding applications such as video games, 3D rendering, video editing, or complex scientific simulations.

In many modern computers, the CPU includes an integrated graphics processing unit (iGPU) that handles basic display output and less intensive visual tasks. However, for more demanding graphical workloads, the iGPU may not provide sufficient power. In such cases, a lisänäytönohjain, a more powerful and specialized discrete graphics card (dGPU), can be added to take over these tasks. This offloads the processing burden from the CPU and its integrated graphics, leading to smoother performance, higher frame rates in games, and faster rendering times.
