Listungfor

Listungfor is a town and municipality in the northern Valorian region of the fictional country Valoria, located along the List River in the Vara Valley. The municipality covers about 22 square kilometers and sits roughly 120 meters above sea level. The name is thought to derive from Old Valorian terms meaning “landing” and “fortress,” reflecting its origins as a river crossing and defensive site.

The town is first mentioned in records from 1186 and grew from a riverside settlement into a market town. A stone fortress established in 1280 gave Listungfor strategic importance, and municipal rights were granted in the 14th century. It endured late medieval conflicts and gained rail access in the late 19th century, which spurred growth. In the modern era, the town has remained largely agricultural while expanding small-scale manufacturing and services.

Governance is by a municipal council (Stadtrat) of 12 members and a mayor elected for a four-year term. The town lies in Valoria’s regional district and participates in local cooperative bodies.

The local economy centers on agriculture—rye, potatoes, and dairy—along with timber processing and crafts. Tourism focuses on the historic core, the fortress ruins, and the riverside promenade. As of 2023, the population stands around 4,700; residents are primarily Valorians who speak a regional dialect and the national language.

Cultural life centers on a harvest festival, a regional library, and the Listungfor Museum of Local History. Transportation links include a regional rail line and a national road, with a small bus network serving neighborhoods.
