Lintestí

Lintestí is a fictional coastal municipality created for Nordic-inspired literature and role-playing settings. It is described as lying along a protected inlet on the eastern coast of the archipelago of Eyrin, within the northern realm of Norvasta. The municipality comprises the fishing village of Gráshöfn and the surrounding farmland, with a population of roughly 1,300 people.

Etymology: The name Lintestí is said to derive from Old Norse elements meaning “lint” or “flax fiber” and “stí” meaning path or street. In local legend, the name commemorates a historic loom workshop that once served as a caravan stop for traders.

Geography and economy: Lintestí sits at the head of a sheltered fjord, with rocky shores, tidal flats, and a small natural harbor. The economy centers on small-scale fishing, seafood processing, and artisanal crafts, complemented by seasonal tourism focused on hiking and coastal scenery.

History and culture: Settled in the medieval period, it developed as a fishing hamlet and later a parish. The town preserves timber houses with white plaster and red-tiled roofs, and a timber-and-stone lighthouse. An annual harvest festival and a textile cooperative are among its cultural highlights; the Lintestí Market brings vendors and visitors together each summer.
