Convex lenses, also known as converging lenses, are thicker at the center than at the edges. They cause parallel rays of light to converge at a focal point. Concave lenses are used in eyeglasses to correct myopia (nearsightedness) and in telescopes to broaden the field of view. Similar to convex lenses, there are variations such as biconcave (both surfaces curved inwards), plano-concave (one flat surface, one inward curved surface), and concave-convex (one inward curved surface, one outward curved surface, with the inward curve being stronger).
