Linkkiä

Linkkiä is a fictional municipality and town in the temperate northern country of Nordia. It lies along the northern coast of Nordia’s inland sea, with a landscape of rolling hills, boreal forests, and a network of rivers and lakes. The municipality covers about 128 square kilometers, of which around 12 percent is water, and has a population of roughly 6,000 residents. The climate is classified as oceanic, with cool summers and cold winters moderated by proximity to the sea.

Historically, Linkkiä arose as a trading post in the medieval era and gained municipal rights in the 19th century. The economy today centers on services, light manufacturing, forestry, and tourism focused on nature and cultural heritage. The town acts as a local service center for surrounding villages and contains a market square, a cultural center, and a regional library.

Administratively, Linkkiä is governed by a municipal council elected for four-year terms; the council selects a mayor. Local infrastructure includes a road network linking to the regional highway and a small railway line with limited freight and passenger services. Notable sites include the 17th-century St. Olav Church, the old town hall, and the Linkkiä Canal, popular for boating in the summer. The population is predominantly Nordian-speaking, with small minority representations.
