Lingvistiniai is a subphylum of poikilohydric langmuirfilum algae that primarily consists of algae and protists. This subphylum is often characterized by its ability to live in a wide range of environments, from freshwater to saltwater and even limited amounts of terrestrial habitats. Lingvistiniai are generally microscopic and can be found in diverse locations, including in sheltered coastal areas and as part of marine plankton.

Some of the members of this subphylum are found to be autotrophs, utilizing photosynthesis to create organic compounds. This results in the production of new oxygen, contributing to the oxidative capacity of the ecosystem. Furthermore, lingvistiniai are known to form symbiotic relationships with various biota, often providing crucial nutrients to their partners. In certain species, this relationship has evolved to produce complex photosynthetic apparatuses that facilitate mutualistic exchanges.
