Limonov

Limonov, born Eduard Veniaminovich Savenko on October 16, 1943, was a Russian writer, political activist, and controversial figure. He is perhaps best known for his novel "It's Me, Eddie" (1979), which detailed his experiences in New York City and gained international attention for its provocative and often shocking content. Limonov's literary work explored themes of alienation, sexuality, and violence, often in a raw and unflinching style.

Beyond his writing, Limonov was a prominent and often radical political figure in Russia. He was a co-founder of the National Bolshevik Party (NBP), a political movement known for its fusion of nationalistic and communist ideologies, and its confrontational tactics. The NBP was eventually outlawed in Russia. Limonov's political views were characterized by a strong nationalism, anti-Western sentiment, and a desire for a resurgent Russia. He participated in various political rallies and conflicts, including the Yugoslav Wars. His life and career were marked by constant controversy, legal troubles, and a dedication to his uncompromising worldview. Limonov passed away on March 17, 2020.
