Limnopithecus

Limnopithecus is an extinct genus of Old World monkeys that lived in Africa during the Miocene epoch. Fossil remains of Limnopithecus have been found in various locations across East Africa, including Kenya and Uganda. This genus is significant for understanding the early evolution and diversification of cercopithecoid primates.

The fossils attributed to Limnopithecus suggest a relatively small-bodied primate, likely arboreal, and adapted to forested environments. Dietary interpretations based on dental morphology indicate that Limnopithecus was likely an omnivore, consuming fruits, leaves, and possibly insects.
