Liigutusimpulsid, also known as motor commands or efference copies, are neural signals originating in the brain that initiate and control voluntary movements. These impulses are generated in motor areas of the cerebral cortex and then travel down through the spinal cord to activate specific muscles. When a motor command is generated, it not only sends signals to the muscles but also sends a copy of this command, the efference copy, to other brain regions. This allows for faster and more accurate sensory feedback processing, distinguishing between self-generated sensations and external stimuli. For instance, when you reach for an object, the efference copy helps your brain anticipate the visual and proprioceptive feedback you will receive, allowing you to adjust your grip or trajectory in real-time.
