Liigaaasta
Liigaaasta is a term used to describe a calendar year in which there are 53 weeks instead of the usual 52. This occurs approximately every five to six years due to the fact that a standard year of 365 days is slightly less than a full 52-week cycle (52 weeks * 7 days/week = 364 days). A leap year, with 366 days, is also not a perfect multiple of seven. Therefore, to realign the calendar with the astronomical year, an extra week is occasionally added.
