Lihtioonidel

Lihtioonidel is a term of Estonian origin that translates to "simple ions" or "basic ions." It refers to a class of chemical species characterized by a single atom that carries either a positive or negative electrical charge. This charge arises from the gain or loss of one or more electrons by a neutral atom.

Positive ions, known as cations, are formed when an atom loses electrons. For instance, sodium (Na) losing an electron becomes a sodium ion (Na+). Metals commonly form cations.
