Liekkilämpötila

Liekkilämpötila refers to the temperature of a flame. It is not a single fixed value but rather a range of temperatures that can vary significantly depending on the fuel, the amount of oxygen available, and the overall combustion process. The hottest part of a flame is typically where the most efficient combustion occurs, leading to the highest temperatures.

Different types of flames exhibit different temperature ranges. For instance, a candle flame has a visible yellow part, which is cooler and contains unburnt soot particles, and a hotter, almost invisible blue base where combustion is more complete. The blue part of a candle flame can reach temperatures around 1400 degrees Celsius. In contrast, a Bunsen burner flame, when properly adjusted with sufficient air supply, can achieve much higher temperatures, often exceeding 1500 degrees Celsius, with the hottest point being the tip of the inner blue cone.

Industrial combustion processes, such as those found in furnaces or engines, are designed to achieve very high liekkilämpötila to maximize energy efficiency. These can reach several thousand degrees Celsius. The precise measurement of liekkilämpötila is important in various applications, including material science, combustion engineering, and fire investigation, as it provides insights into the energy released and the conditions under which combustion takes place. Factors like pressure and the presence of diluent gases can also influence flame temperature.
