Levélkiszolgálók refer to mail servers, which are computer programs that handle the sending, receiving, and storing of electronic mail messages. They are a fundamental component of email communication systems.

There are primarily two types of mail servers involved in the email process: mail submission servers and mail relay servers. Mail submission servers, often referred to as outgoing mail servers, are responsible for accepting outgoing emails from email clients and delivering them to their destination. Mail relay servers, on the other hand, act as intermediaries, forwarding emails between different mail servers.

For receiving emails, mail transfer agents (MTAs) and mail delivery agents (MDAs) play crucial roles. MTAs receive emails from other mail servers and transfer them to the appropriate destination server. MDAs then take the received emails and place them into the recipient's mailbox, making them accessible to the user's email client.

Common protocols used by mail servers include SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) for sending and relaying emails, and POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) or IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) for retrieving emails from mailboxes. Security protocols like SSL/TLS are often employed to encrypt communication between clients and servers, and between servers themselves, protecting the confidentiality and integrity of email data. Maintaining and managing these servers is vital for ensuring reliable and secure email services.
