Lesionscolor

Lesionscolor is not widely recognized as a standalone medical diagnosis. In practice, it is used as a descriptor for the color of a cutaneous lesion in dermatology, or as a field name in datasets and image-analysis pipelines to encode color information of a lesion. When present in clinical notes or data schemas, it may be recorded as a category (for example red, brown, black, pink, blue, white) or as a numeric color-value from a color space.

Clinical importance: Color variation is one of the key features evaluated when diagnosing skin lesions. Uniform color tends to be benign, whereas variegated colors—such as a mix of red, brown, black, and white—can signal malignancy or inflammation. In the ABCDE criteria for melanoma, color refers to variation within the lesion.

Technical aspects: In research and computer-aided diagnosis, color data is captured in color spaces such as RGB or HSV. Color normalization and calibration mitigate lighting differences. When using a field like lesionscolor, researchers should specify the color space, categorization, and any thresholding used to define color categories.

Limitations: Color perception is influenced by skin tone, lighting, camera, and post-processing. Therefore, lesionscolor should be interpreted in conjunction with morphology, border, asymmetry, and evolution. Standardized labeling improves comparability across studies.
