Lenkkimakkara

Lenkkimakkara is a Finnish long, slender processed sausage that belongs to the makkara family. It is typically sold as an elongated link and is noticeably thinner than many other sausages used for grilling or as everyday staples. The product is widely distributed by Finnish meat producers and is common in households as a quick, convenient option.

Lenkkimakkara is usually prepared by heating, most often by grilling or pan-frying, though it can be boiled briefly. It is commonly eaten hot in a bread roll with mustard or ketchup, or sliced in sandwiches or potatoes. It can also be eaten cold in salads or as part of lunch boxes.

Typical ingredients include pork or a pork–beef mixture, water, salt, sugar, spices, and starch or other fillers. Curing agents such as nitrites are often used, and many versions are smoked or boiled before packaging.

Lenkkimakkara is a staple of Finnish convenience food and summer barbecues, widely available year-round in supermarkets. It is one of several varieties of makkara commonly consumed in Finland, alongside shorter hot dog–style sausages and other traditional sausage products.
