Lemminkäinen is a prominent figure in Finnish mythology, primarily known from the Kalevala, Finland's national epic. He is depicted as a heroic warrior, a skilled musician, and a womanizer. His name is often translated as "little man" or "little hero."

Throughout the Kalevala, Lemminkäinen embarks on various adventures, often driven by his own impetuous nature and desire for glory. One of his most famous exploits involves his journey to the land of Pohjola to woo a beautiful maiden, the daughter of Louhi, the sorceress queen of the north.
