Legasjoner

Legasjoner, also known as legations, were diplomatic missions established by European powers in the 17th and 18th centuries. They served as the primary means of diplomatic communication and representation in foreign countries. Legasjoner were typically headed by a chargé d'affaires, who was responsible for maintaining relations with the host government and negotiating treaties.

The establishment of legasjoner marked a significant shift in diplomatic practice, as they replaced the more informal and less structured system of private correspondence between diplomats.
