Leajn

Leajn is a coastal archipelago and regional entity located along the western seaboard of the fictional continent of Norim. The archipelago comprises about 60 islands and islets, connected by ferries, causeways, and tidal channels. The landscape ranges from salt marshes in the south to rocky headlands in the north. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters, cool summers, and regular rainfall. The capital and principal port is the city of Maris on the central island of Halstone.

The earliest settlements date to the late Neolithic era, with evidence of seafaring trade. Leajn emerged as a distinct political entity in the medieval period, unifying several island communities into a duchy by the 15th century. The annual Salt Moon festival is a major event featuring music, crafts, and marine exhibitions.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy relies on fishing, aquaculture, light manufacturing, and tourism, with renewable energy growing in importance. Maris Port handles regional commerce and cruise traffic; the archipelago is connected by ferries, bridges, and a regional airport. Wind and tidal energy projects are significant under provincial plans.

Notable features include Nidus Crag, a sea-stack formation, and the Blue Cave, a submerged cavern with luminescent plankton, which are popular with visitors and researchers. The region also protects extensive wetlands hosting migratory birds.
