Larssts
Larssts, also known as Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, is a ground-based telescope project designed to conduct a comprehensive survey of the night sky. The telescope is being developed by an international consortium and is expected to be operational in the mid-2020s. It is located at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile. Larssts will feature an 8.4-meter primary mirror and a 3.2-gigapixel camera, making it one of the largest digital cameras in the world. The telescope's primary mission is to map the visible universe, cataloging billions of galaxies and stars, and detecting transient events such as supernovae and near-Earth asteroids. The data collected by Larssts will be used to study dark energy, dark matter, and the formation of galaxies. The project is named after the late astronomer Nicholas U. Mayall, who was a pioneer in the field of astronomical instrumentation. Larssts is expected to revolutionize our understanding of the universe and its evolution.
