Lantmännen

Lantmännen is a Swedish agricultural cooperative and one of the Nordic region’s leading players in the agricultural and food sectors. The group is owned by Swedish farmers through its member cooperatives and the Lantmännen Foundation. It operates across the value chain from farming to consumer products, with activities in agriculture, grain handling and milling, bakery ingredients, food products, animal feed, bioenergy, and agricultural machinery and services. Lantmännen maintains a global presence with operations in about 20 countries, but its core markets are in Sweden and the Nordic region, the Baltic countries, and parts of North America and Asia.

The organization traces its roots to the Swedish cooperative movement, founded to improve efficiency and competitiveness for farmers in grain and supply chains. Over time it expanded from grain trading to integrated operations across farming, processing and energy, broadening its scope beyond traditional grain handling.

Core business areas include farming and crop production; grain handling, storage and milling; flour and bakery ingredients and finished bakery products through subsidiaries such as Lantmännen Unibake; animal feed and nutrition; bioenergy and biogas; and agricultural machinery and related services. The group emphasizes research and development, digital farming tools, and sustainable practices across its operations.

Sustainability and governance: Lantmännen pursues climate action, soil health and responsible sourcing, with initiatives in biodiversity, resource efficiency and social responsibility. It is governed by a general assembly and a board elected by its member owners, with day-to-day management led by a group executive management and CEO.
