Lantakauden
Lantakauden is a term used primarily in speculative histories and some niche scholarly discussions to denote an era in which lantaka cannons played a central role in maritime power. Lantaka cannons are bronze or brass muzzle-loading artillery pieces mounted on ships or coastal fortifications, widely associated with the Malay Archipelago and surrounding waters from roughly the 16th to the 19th centuries. In Finnish-language usage, lantakauden literally means “the lantaka era,” formed from lantaka and the era-denoting suffix.
