Landsdag
The Landsdag is the parliament of the German state of Saxony. It is a bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of the People (Volkskammer) and the House of the Land (Landtag). The Volkskammer has 90 members, while the Landtag has 110 members. Both houses are elected by universal suffrage for a term of five years. The Landsdag is responsible for passing laws, approving the state budget, and overseeing the government. It meets in the Saxon State Parliament Building in Dresden. The Landsdag is headed by a President, who is elected by the members of the parliament. The current President is Thomas Schmidt, who has held the position since 2019. The Landsdag is the highest legislative body in Saxony and plays a crucial role in the state's political and administrative affairs.
