Volkskammer
Volkskammer, formally the Volkskammer der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik, was the unicameral legislature of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) from its establishment in 1950 until German reunification in 1990. It served as the nominal national parliament, responsible for passing laws, approving the state budget, and confirming the government, but real political power rested with the ruling Socialist Unity Party (SED) and its bloc within the National Front.
