Landamento

Landamento is a term found in some lusophone sources referring to the process of shaping and leveling terrain, typically in preparation for construction, agriculture, or landscaping. It is not universally standardized in dictionaries, and its precise meaning can vary by country or discipline. In many contexts, landamento overlaps with or is used interchangeably with terraplanagem or nivelamento, which denote earthworks aimed at flattening, smoothing, or grading a surface and providing drainage.

Typical activities associated with landamento include surveying and topographic mapping to determine elevations, excavation or earth filling to reach a target level, grading to achieve desired slopes, compaction to increase soil bearing capacity, stabilization measures where needed, and the design and implementation of drainage systems to prevent water accumulation. Terminology around landamento varies by region. Some sources treat it as a less common synonym for terraplanagem or regularização do terreno, while others use it in more specific or historical contexts.
