Lampenhouders

Lampenhouders, also known as lamp sockets or lampholders, are electrical components designed to receive and connect a light bulb to a power supply. They provide a secure physical connection and allow electricity to flow to the filament or light source within the bulb, enabling it to illuminate.

The most common type of lampenhouder in many regions is the Edison screw (E) base, such as E27 and E14, which are threaded. These are characterized by a metal screw thread that engages with a corresponding screw socket in the holder. Other common types include bayonet cap (B) bases, like the B22, which are secured by twisting and pushing, and pin-type bases, such as GU10 and G9, used for halogen and some LED bulbs, where pins slot into corresponding holes.

Lampenhouder materials typically include ceramic, plastic, or metal, chosen for their electrical insulation properties and durability. Ceramic is often used in higher temperature applications, while plastic is common for general lighting. Metal components are used for electrical conductivity. The design of a lampenhouder is crucial for safety, ensuring proper insulation and preventing accidental contact with live electrical parts. They are an integral part of any lighting fixture, from simple desk lamps to complex chandeliers.
