Lakedaimon
Lakedaimon, also known as Sparta, was an ancient Greek city-state located in Laconia, a region in the southeastern Peloponnese. The city was renowned for its military prowess and its unique social and political structure. Lakedaimon's society was rigidly hierarchical, with the Spartiates, or full citizens, forming the ruling class. Below them were the Perioeci, free non-citizens who engaged in trade and craft, and at the bottom were the Helots, state-owned serfs who worked the land.
