Lagalegas

Lagalegas is a fictional archipelago in the Eldoria setting, located in the northern Solarian Sea. It comprises about a dozen inhabited islands and numerous reefs and islets, spanning roughly 2,500 square kilometers. The islands feature tropical climates with a distinct wet season, mangrove swamps, coral reefs, and volcanic geology. The regional capital is on the largest island, Lagara.

The name is attested in early maps and oral histories. The etymology is uncertain; scholars propose a derivation from Lagalega words meaning sea and tale, while alternative readings connect it to local seasonal winds.

The archipelago lies along a volcanic arc and is administered under a federal framework. Lagara hosts the central government seat; smaller islands have locally elected councils. The federation emphasizes environmental protection and fisheries management.

Settlement dates to antiquity in legends and later colonial contact. Today the population is around 120,000, speaking Lagalegan with regional dialects; many residents are bilingual in the federation's lingua franca.

The economy relies on fisheries, seaweed cultivation, coconuts, and eco-tourism. Cultural life centers on maritime heritage, traditional crafts, and seasonal festivals. Notable sites include Pearl Reef, Mount Nari, and the Old Lighthouse of Nari.
