Ladogians is a historical and regional term used to denote the inhabitants of the Lake Ladoga region in northwestern Russia, particularly around Staraya Ladoga and the Ladoga basin. The label refers to a range of communities that lived along the lake’s shores and river networks at various times, rather than a single, continuous ethnic group.

Historically, the Ladoga region was a crossroads for Finnic, Baltic, and Slavic populations. The linguistic landscape shifted over centuries as populations moved, traded, and were assimilated into larger polities such as Kievan Rus’. Finnic languages historically influenced the area, with later Slavic languages becoming more prominent due to interaction with neighboring groups and state formation.
