LLDPCDP

LLDPCDP is a term that refers to the combined operation or configuration of two network protocols: Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP). Both LLDP and CDP are vendor-neutral and vendor-specific respectively, and are used to discover directly connected network devices.

LLDP is an IEEE 802.1ab standard protocol. It allows network devices such as switches, routers, and IP phones to advertise their identity, capabilities, and management address to other network devices on the same local area network. The information transmitted by LLDP can be used for various network management tasks, including network mapping, troubleshooting, and inventory management.

CDP is a proprietary protocol developed by Cisco Systems. Similar to LLDP, CDP allows Cisco devices to advertise their identity, capabilities, and connected ports to other Cisco devices. CDP is essential for network administrators managing Cisco-centric networks, enabling them to visualize network topology and identify device interconnections.

When LLDPCDP is mentioned, it typically implies a scenario where both protocols are enabled and operational on network devices. This can occur in heterogeneous network environments where both Cisco and non-Cisco devices coexist. In such cases, devices may send and receive information from both LLDP and CDP advertisements, providing a more comprehensive view of the network topology.
