LEDtelevisioissa, often referred to as LED TVs, represent a significant advancement in television display technology. Unlike traditional LCD televisions that use fluorescent backlights, LED TVs employ light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for illumination. This fundamental difference allows for more precise control over brightness and contrast, leading to superior picture quality.

The LEDs in an LED TV are typically placed behind the LCD panel. There are two main types of LED backlighting: edge-lit and full-array. Edge-lit LED TVs have LEDs positioned along the edges of the screen, with light diffused across the panel. Full-array LED TVs have LEDs distributed across the entire back of the panel, offering more uniform illumination and better contrast. Some advanced full-array systems incorporate local dimming, where individual zones of LEDs can be dimmed or brightened independently, further enhancing black levels and overall image depth.

The benefits of LED technology in televisions include improved energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and slimmer profile designs compared to older display types. The enhanced contrast and vibrant colors contribute to a more immersive viewing experience. LEDs also offer a wider color gamut, reproducing a broader spectrum of hues accurately.
