LEDdimmelés is a term used to describe the phenomenon of flickering or inconsistent dimming experienced with certain light-emitting diode (LED) lighting systems. This issue can manifest as a noticeable pulsing or strobing effect, particularly at lower brightness levels. Unlike traditional incandescent bulbs which dim smoothly by reducing voltage, LEDs operate on a different principle.

The dimming of LEDs is typically achieved through two main methods: Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Analog Dimming. PWM works by rapidly switching the LED on and off at varying duty cycles. If the switching frequency is too low or the control circuitry is not well-designed, this rapid on-off cycle can become perceptible as flicker. Analog dimming reduces the current flowing through the LED, which can sometimes lead to color shifts or uneven light output when dimmed significantly.

LEDdimmelés can be caused by several factors. Incompatibility between the LED fixture and the dimmer switch is a common culprit. Not all dimmer switches are designed to work with the low voltage and specific load requirements of LED lights. Using an older dimmer switch designed for incandescent bulbs can result in poor performance. Additionally, poorly manufactured LED bulbs or drivers, the electronic components that control the LED, can also contribute to dimming issues. The quality of the power supply and wiring in a building can also play a role.

Addressing LEDdimmelés often involves ensuring compatibility between the LED bulb and the dimmer switch, choosing dimmable LED bulbs specifically designed for such applications, and potentially upgrading older dimmer switches to models designed for LED technology. In some cases, professional electrical consultation may be necessary to diagnose and resolve complex wiring or power supply issues.
