LEDajuritScout

LEDajuritScout is a compact, high-intensity light-emitting diode (LED) module designed for military and tactical scouting applications. Developed in 2023 by the Indonesian Defense Research Institute in collaboration with the electronics manufacturer PT Luminex, the device combines low power consumption, durability, and versatile illumination modes to meet the demanding environment of field operations. The module employs a blue-green LED array with a peak wavelength of 470 nm and luminous flux of 480 lux at 1 m, providing a clear visual field while minimizing thermal output.

Key design features include a ruggedized anodized aluminium housing, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a built‑in infrared (IR) emitter for covert night‑vision applications. Integrated microcontroller circuitry allows programmable flash patterns, strobe, and steady‑beam modes, and a rechargeable lithium‑ion battery pack supports up to 12 hours continuous operation. An optional quick‑mounting bracket facilitates attachment to helmet visors, weapons, or vehicle panels, enabling rapid deployment during rapid‑response missions.

The technology entered field testing with the Indonesian Army’s Scout Battalion in 2024 and subsequently received acceptance certification for use by joint special‑forces units. Since 2025, LEDajuritScout has been exported to allied countries in Southeast Asia, and several Commonwealth defense agencies have adopted the module for urban search and rescue. Ongoing development focuses on integrating energy‑harvesting capacitors and expanding the spectrum to include near‑infrared for night‑vision compatibility.
