Längeren

Längeren is not a stand-alone lemma in German; it is a declined form of the adjective lang meaning longer or more lengthy. It is used attributively to modify a noun and to express a higher degree of length in combination with a determiner and within various grammatical cases and numbers.

In German grammar, adjectives change their endings to agree with the gender, number and case of the noun they modify. The form längeren appears in several common contexts, especially after definite determiners and in plural usage. For example, in the accusative singular masculine you would encounter den längeren Weg (the longer path), and in the dative singular masculine you would find dem längeren Weg (to the longer path). In the plural we have die längeren Wege (the longer paths). The feminine singular can appear as der längeren Straße (to/for the longer street in dative), and the genitive plural as der längeren Jahre (of the longer years).
