Lämpösiirtotulostus, often translated as heat transfer printing or sublimation printing in English, is a printing technique used to transfer images and designs onto various substrates. The process typically involves printing a design onto a special heat-transfer paper using a sublimation ink. This inked paper is then placed onto the object to be printed, such as fabric, mugs, or metal plates, and subjected to heat and pressure from a heat press machine.

The heat causes the sublimation ink to turn into a gas, which then permeates the material of the substrate. As the material cools, the ink returns to a solid state, becoming permanently embedded within the substrate's fibers or surface. This results in a durable, vibrant, and high-resolution image that is resistant to fading and washing.
