Kümnendnumbris

Kümnendnumbris, often translated as "decimal number" or "ten-part number" in English, is a term used in Estonian mathematics to refer to a number expressed in the decimal system. This system is a positional numeral system where each digit's value is determined by its position relative to the decimal point. The decimal system uses ten distinct digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

In a kümnendnumbris, the digits to the left of the decimal point represent whole units, increasing in value by powers of ten (ones, tens, hundreds, etc.) as they move further left. Digits to the right of the decimal point represent fractional parts, decreasing in value by powers of ten (tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc.) as they move further right. For example, the number 123.45 represents one hundred twenty-three whole units and forty-five hundredths. The decimal point is the separator between the integer part and the fractional part of the number.
